The refrigeration appliance lighting remains switched on when the door is closed. Some fridge-freezers without LED lighting have a winter setting. The winter setting uses the heat from the lamp. The lighting remains switched on when the door is closed. The appliance interior warms up more quickly, meaning that the compressor is activated more often. This ensures that the food in the freezer compartment does not defrost when the room air is cold.
If the room air is permanently above 16–18 °C, however, the winter setting may be deactivated.
